Based on the story of Dionysus, God of Wine and Merriment, Divine Proportions is an immersive dining experience that blurs the line between feast and fetish. Taking place in The Vaults from this September, the ancient Greek myth will be used as a starting point for a free-form exploration of female beauty and sensuality, personal freedom, expression of gender fluidity and sexual desire. Divine Proportions is a reimagining of the Bacchic rites - an indulgent night of eating, drinking and wild dancing. Follow Dionysus and their Priestesses into a world of eternal ecstasy in this life and the next.

Divine Proportions is produced by the female-led Shotgun Carousel, one of London's most exciting production companies. The multi-disciplinary performance collective is renowned for working down to the finest detail in their character, creature, costume and set design. With immersive theatre expert Samuel Wyer in charge of set and costume design and Pecs: The Drag King Collective founder Celine Lowenthal directing, Divine Proportions promises to be an evening fit for Gods and Goddesses.

Guests will be led on a journey by a mercurial Dionysus. Diners will be led into the heart of heaven and the depths of The Underworld, supported by Dionysus' Priestesses, for a heavenly night of wining, dining and raucous entertainment inspired by the story of the God of Pleasure and Mischief.

Upon entering, guests will be greeted by Dionysus' cult followers and invited to indulge in Bacchic Rites. Guests will be encouraged to indulge in the smells, tastes and textures of visceral foodstuff. The bacchanals will then be asked to make a sacrifice, with a reward for those brave enough to do so.

With the appearance of Dionysus, guests will be cleansed, before dining in Nirvana. The menu takes inspiration from Greek mythology, with each specially-curated course reflecting a key figure from the myths of Ancient Greece. Guests will be guided through every ingredient and flavour of their meal as they indulge in ambrosia and nectars fit for the deities themselves. Following dinner, guests will be led to The Underworld to revel amongst the darker celestial beings who really know how to party.

Looking ahead to September, Laura Drake Chambers, Founder and Creative Director of Shotgun Carousel and Creative Producer of Divine Proportions, said: "The world of Divine Proportions is the inclusive utopia I dream of, and whilst that world remains mythological, we’ll keep working our butts off to bring our dreamworld to life. It’s raunchy, sexy, unapologetically loud and if our audiences have as much fun experiencing this show as we’ve had creating it, we’ll have done Dionysus proud”.

Indulge in heavenly splendour over a five-course banquet before descending into the depths of The Underworld for a bacchanalian party fit for Lucifer himself.

Divine Proportions Synopsis

Wine, dine and celebrate life like the Gods and Goddesses you are with an evening of Divine Proportions.

A heavenly night of wining, dining and raucous entertainment inspired by the story of Dionysus, God of Pleasure and Mischief.

In a city of drab and dreary dinner invites, theatrical entrepreneurs and immersive party pranksters Shotgun Carousel invite you to their feast of bacchanalia.

Spend the night up in the Gods for an evening of wild-dancing, raunchy rituals, ethereal entertainers and ever-flowing feasts, whilst raising a glass to the ancient God of Ecstacy and Wine.

The Gods are away and Bacchus the Heavenly Host has come out to play.

Course after course of heavenly delights and celestial cocktails are bestowed upon you.

Milk and honey, masked merrymakers and a cabaret of magical creatures - a night of indulgence and extravagance unfolds.

As the lines blur between mortal and divine, the clouds open up above you, and the aromas of Godly dishes draw you into the realms above.

Along the way you catch whispers of ridiculous riddles, sightings of Satyrs, dodgy deals with deities and hidden passages to the peak of Mount Olympus, all for you to discover.

But beware! Bacchus can't keep the rest of the Gods from their heavenly home forever; mortals will not be treated mercifully at the eternal after-party in the Underworld.

Dress like the deities you are and join the Gods for an evening of Divine Proportions.

Divine Proportions Critics & Reviews

A new theatrical dining experience will let you banquet like a Greek god

A new theatrical dining experience will offer Londoners the chance to party like a Greek deity this autumn.

Divine Proportions will offer indulgent nights of food, drink and entertainment at The Vaults in Waterloo, inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Dionysus, the god of wine. The event will be themed around Dionysian ideals of sensuality, sexual desire and gender fluidity.

The evening events will feature a specially designed five course banquet in “Nirvana”, after which they will be asked to make a “sacrifice”.

Before the meal, guests will be greeted by Dionysus himself, and afterwards will be lead by Dionysus’ Priestesses to a party in The Underworld.

The experience is a collaboration between female-led performance group Shotgun Carousel, immersive theatre designer Samuel Wyer and Celine Lowenthal, founder of the The Drag King Collective.

Laura Drake Chambers, Shotgun Carousel’s founder and creative director of Divine Proportions described the night as “raunchy, sexy, unapologetically loud, and if our audiences have as much fun experiencing this show as we’ve had creating it, we’ll have done Dionysus proud”.
